Megjegyzés: Egy 2010-es kiadású turista kompakt a tartalék gépem. Azzal kattintgattam. A videót pedig az öt éves rendkívül alap okostelefonom egy szem nyolc megapixeles kamerájával rögzítettem.
On the walk home, I was looking for photo subjects and reflecting. Thinking back to what I wrote on the first of May, I realised that May 2024 is indeed one of the most enjoyable times of my life.
The weather turned a little wetter at the beginning of the month, and I saw precipitation three times in week 20, as I did in week 21. Rain always makes me feel better, as it eases a little of the drought that has become chronic. In the absence of water basis, the county is at the mercy of the clouds, but their quantity and distribution is totally unpredictable, and there are certainly drought years when the annual rainfall total is less than 400 mm.
I hope 2024 will not be like that!
I have just looked at the rainfall totals for the last 30 days and we have only 36 mm, whereas the ideal would be 60 mm. The moisture content of the top 20 cm of soil after "so much rain" is only 64%. The weather is very deceptive, it is worth looking at the data and looking under the denser canopy of trees where the soil is still very dry. If it were raining normally, it would be wet there too.
Despite the facts, I am letting myself be lulled into a pleasant mood, as rain is a blessing, and I love the way the water makes the plants green up and the fungi emerge from the wet soil.
After the elderberries, the lime trees are in bloom, and the air has been fragrant for weeks.
I'm concentrating on week 22, when the mushrooms really kick in and produce a short wave of crops, because June is already bringing 30 degree summer weather, and the bad news is that the GFS model run precipitation curves are getting smaller.
So I always look ahead only a week and mostly bask in the present moment. Enjoying the good and reveling in our rapidly changing world.
Check out a selection of pictures and a short video.
Note: I have a 2010 edition tourist compact camera as a spare. I clicked with it. And I shot the video with the one-eyed, eight-megapixel camera on my extremely basic, five-year-old smartphone.
